Job Overview
Inspector II – Vehicle Operations at Cox Automotive. Must work at one of the Cox locations. The hourly base pay ranges from $15.10 to $22.69, depending on location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation such as commission or incentive may also apply.
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle inspections and prepare documentation of overall vehicle condition for the sale of client/customer consigned vehicles, both in lane and online.
- Verify vehicle identification and enter basic identification information into the database.
- Inspect vehicle equipment, options, and exterior damage, then record results in the database.
- Inspect and record interior condition, tires, frame, and mechanical components.
- Complete and verify data entry to support vehicle condition documentation.
- Conduct post‑sale inspections (PSI) and enter results in the appropriate database.
- Perform and document walk‑around inspections for the online vehicle exchange (OVE) process.
- Review completed vehicle condition reports with inspectors, confirm findings, and provide advice.
- Attend meetings to share and receive job‑related information and complete required training.
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience.
- Alternative qualifications include a higher degree or certification plus related experience; or 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Safe driver status required and valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer software skills.
- Ability to multitask, follow directions, and remain detail oriented.
- Mechanical, estimating, and/or body shop experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of body, paint, and mechanical repair preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with unibody and full‑frame vehicles.
- Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to crouch, bend, and kneel for vehicle inspection.
- Strength to lift hood or trunk and stand while performing audits.
- Ability to reach inside or beneath vehicles.
- Near‑vision required to detect exterior and interior damage and color identification.
- Ability to handle varying lighting conditions.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Moderate noise levels.
- Potential exposure to fumes and odors.
- Minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off (PTO) each month.
- Seven paid holidays per calendar year.
