North America Regulatory Advisor

As North America Regulatory Advisor you will support understanding and execution of US regulatory and commercial efforts for Shell’s growing Low Carbon Fuels (LCF) Trading business, focusing on US and Canadian markets.

Accountabilities
  • Support the LCF team with analysis & insights on regulatory requirements impacting North American markets.
  • Understand interactions between transport GHG regulations (US RFS, Canada CFR, California LCFS, BC LCFS, Oregon CFP, ISCC) and others driving decarbonization.
  • Advise the LCF business on commercial implications of regulatory changes, providing concise summaries quickly after major announcements.
  • Collaborate with Shell teams to formulate advocacy positions supporting LCF strategy.
  • Lead implementation of accreditation, certification, chain‑of‑custody processes, and reporting requirements across new supply chains.
  • Develop insights and material to engage commercial leaders and senior stakeholders.
  • Build a network of internal & external stakeholders to ensure timely information on political discussions affecting decarbonization.
  • Ensure compliance with pathways, licenses, and certification processes as required.
  • Collaborate with Analytics to develop supply/demand models across markets, advising on regulatory impacts.
What you bring
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full‑time basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years in energy trading environments.
  • Experience interpreting North American low‑carbon fuel regulations (US RFS, Canada CFR, California LCFS, BC LCFS).
  • Ability to relate regulations to business impact for renewables & GHG transport obligations.
  • Expertise formulating advice on commercial/operational impacts of emerging legislation.
  • Understanding of US & Canadian political energy policy landscapes.
  • Proven ability to nurture and leverage relationships with cross‑functional teams.
  • Skill in synthesizing data into a clear storyline for advocacy and implementation.
  • Commercial experience and interest in renewables.
  • Creativity and confidence to respond under pressure in negotiations.
  • Self‑starter mentality, strong teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Languages:

    English (French welcome but not essential).
What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $103,000‑$155,000 per year. Individual pay is based on experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority and internal equity.
