Position SummaryThe Public Safety Dispatcher serves as the communications center for the Big Canoe Department of Public Safety. This position receives emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatches appropriate personnel, monitors security systems, maintains accurate records, and provides professional customer service to property owners, residents, guests, contractors, and employees. The Dispatcher supports the safety and security of the Big Canoe community and must be familiar with the rules, policies, and procedures of the Big Canoe Property Owners Association.
Full time position working 4 days on and 4 days off work week.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Receive and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Monitor radio traffic, CCTV cameras, and security systems.
- Log calls, enter reports, and maintain accurate dispatch records.
- Assist Access Control by issuing approved guest, visitor, and contractor passes.
- Support gate operations as needed.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Maintain a clean and organized dispatch center.
- Maintain confidentiality and remain calm during emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Lieutenant or Fire Chief.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficient computer and data entry skills.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
- Dispatch, public safety, or customer service experience preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
The employee must be able to sit for extended periods, operate a computer, telephone, and radio equipment, communicate effectively, read computer screens and written materials, occasionally stand, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds, and work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations as needed.
