Company DescriptionWiregrass E911 Center provides emergency call handling and dispatch services for Long and McIntosh Counties in Southeast Georgia. Located at 1019 Production Row SW in Darien, GA, the center supports public safety agencies by coordinating rapid response to emergencies.
Role DescriptionThe Communications Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at the Wiregrass E911 Center. This role is responsible for answering, processing, and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls to the respective Police Department, Sheriff's Office, Fire Department, and/or EMS Department. The Communications Officer maintains accurate and timely records of all calls and responses, monitors multiple communication radio channels, and relays updates to field units.
Daily tasks include prioritizing incidents, following established protocols, communicating clearly with callers and responders, and maintaining situational awareness during routine and high-stress events.
$19.75/hr Non-Certified, $20.74 Certified Communications Officer
- At least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED
- No felony convictions
- Pass a Pre-Employment Dispatcher Evaluation Test
- Able to work a rotating 12 hour schedule, day and night shift
