CAD Technician – Truck Upfit Facility – Job Description
The CAD Technician is responsible for creating and maintaining engineering drawings, 3D models, and supporting production operations. This position works closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure products are accurately designed, documented, and manufactured efficiently. The ideal candidate combines strong CAD drafting skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate degree or technical certificate in CAD Technology, Drafting, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solid Works platforms.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in CAD drafting and CNC programming.
- Experience with ERP, PDM, or PLM systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Working Conditions:
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment.
- Frequent computer-based design and programming work.
- Periodic exposure to machining and manufacturing operations.
- Occasional lifting and shop-floor support activities as required.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- This role requires frequent movement around the shop floor, direct interaction with employees, and a hands-on approach to supervision. Exposure to noise, tools, and moving vehicles is common. Occasional lifting of heavy equipment may be necessary. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed to meet production demands.
