The Collaborating Physician provides clinical oversight, protocol delegation, and consultative support for Vynca's Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) delivering home-based palliative and serious illness care to patients across Georgia. The physician retains ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all delegated medical acts are clinically appropriate, properly documented, and compliant with applicable law and Board rules.

What you'll do

  • Serve as delegating or supervising physician for up to eight nurse practitioners and physician assistants combined, within the scope of a comparable specialty in palliative and primary care.

  • Coordinates with Vynca to establish, review, and maintain written nurse protocol agreements for each nurse practitioner, and ensure agreements and amendments are filed with the Georgia Composite Medical Board within required timelines.

  • Be immediately available for consultation during care delivery, or designate a qualified backup physician who concurs with the terms of the applicable agreements.

Chart Review and Quality Monitoring

  • Review and sign 100 percent of records for members who receive any controlled substance prescription issued under a nurse protocol agreement, and personally evaluate or examine those members at least quarterly, consistent with O.C.G.A.§ 43-34-25(c)(9).

  • Review and sign 100 percent of any patient record involving an adverse outcome, within 30 days of discovery.

  • Review and sign at least 10 percent of all other patient records, no less than annually.

  • Provide guidance on controlled substance management within the limits Georgia places on nurse practitioner and physician assistant prescribing, including risk assessment, patient counseling, PDMP review, and naloxone co-prescribing standards.

Compliance and Program Integrity

  • Maintain principal place of practice in Georgia, or within 50 miles of the locations within the State of Georgia where the protocol agreements are utilized.
