Associate Market Clinical Director

The Associate Market Clinical Director directly supervises, performance manages, and trains Clinical Directors within an assigned market, overseeing center performance objectives, P&L, growth, and culture.

Responsibilities
  • Direct accountability for clinical outcomes and day‑to‑day management of Medical Directors across multiple centers within the assigned market.
  • Ensure successful clinical operations and meet or exceed market earnings plans.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach Medical Directors to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes.
  • Oversee talent development of PCPs, NPs, and Medical Directors, including physician shadowing, 1:1 coaching, leadership development plans, and performance management.
  • Cultivate a center‑level physician culture aligned with the Chen Med core model, values, behaviors, and service standards.
  • Assist Clinical COE in training new practitioners within assigned centers.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing PCP and specialist candidates.
  • Partner with Clinical COE and Talent Acquisition to support the clinical talent lifecycle, including hiring, managing, and mentoring physicians.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with payers, specialists, the community, and hospitals, and support a local social media presence.
  • Monitor and support overall market culture, responding promptly to workplace concerns.
  • Review and approve center‑level referrals and provide backup for market referral and delegated utilization authorizations.
  • Other duties as assigned and modified at the discretion of the Regional President, including:
    • Assist the Regional President with market quality and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Oversee monthly scorecard reviews and collaborate with Clinical Leadership for quarterly clinical metric analysis.
    • Provide training to other Chen Med entities as needed.
    • Develop deep relationships with providers and key stakeholders in the market.
    • Leverage local market dynamics to drive clinical initiatives and build credibility and trust.
    • Assist with cost reduction and market clinical strategies.
    • Deliver outstanding clinical outcomes and service to patient panels as a PCP (20%).

  • Experience in population risk management or complex chronic disease care management.
  • History of being a natural teacher to fellow physicians.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Comfortable with the electronic medical record (EMR) and keyboarding.
  • Ready to travel locally, regionally, and nationally up to 30% of the time.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • Independent judgment is required for this job.
Education and Experience
  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a similar specialty required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience required; 3 years preferred.
