Adjunct Welding and Joining Technology Instructor - Hall County Campus
Reports To:
Dean of Applied Technology
Salary:
Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours
Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned in Welding and Joining Technology. Will direct student learning and assess student progress in achieving the requirements of the program in the appropriate learning domains. Classes will be taught in the classroom setting. Will ensure that safety and security requirements are met in the training.
Major Duties- Provide professional instruction based on approved course syllabus.
- Ensure that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives.
- Prepare curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught.
- Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Administer and grade class examinations.
- Monitor student use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
- Maintain records of student grades and maintains student files.
- Attend in-service training, workshops, and seminars as needed.
- Observe and enforce the institution’s policies and regulations.
- Meet all required deadlines.
- Complete all mandatory training.
- Meet with students, staff members, supervisors as needed.
Completion of a technical diploma in Welding and Joining Technology from a regionally accredited college or university, and three (3) years of work experience in a position related to Welding and Joining Technology. Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Competencies- Ability to teach one or more courses under the Welding & Joining Technology curriculum. Courses include:
- Introduction to Welding Technology
- Flat Shielded Metal Arc Welding
- Horizontal Shielded Metal Arc Welding
- Gas Metal Arc Welding
- Vertical Shielded Metal Arc Welding
• Ability to develop instructional materials, evaluate students’ progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives, ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area
- Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education
- Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the College
- Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
- Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making and problem solving skills
- Associate’s degree in Welding and Joining Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university
- Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certifications; teaching experience in a classroom and laboratory setting
- Experience welding in a variety of settings and formats, such as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Flux-Cored Arc Welding, Oxyacetylene Welding, Oxyfuel Gas Welding, and Plasma Cutting
- Experience with blueprint reading and welding symbol identification
