Job DescriptionThis is a full time teaching position to begin school year. Interested candidates should hold appropriate Georgia certification and meet the definition of Highly Qualified. The Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teacher for the Nutrition and Food Science pathway provides engaging, hands‑on instruction that equips students with the knowledge and practical skills needed for success in postsecondary education and careers within the food science, nutrition, and culinary industries.
Through rigorous, standards‑aligned, lab‑based learning experiences, the teacher integrates key concepts such as food safety and sanitation, nutrition science, food preparation techniques, and employability skills. This position focuses on creating an engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and real‑world application through project‑based and industry‑relevant instruction.
In addition to instructional responsibilities, the FACS teacher is expected to serve as Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Advisor, providing leadership and guidance for student members through the coordination of chapter activities, competitive events, community service initiatives, and leadership development opportunities that support both pathway objectives and overall student growth.
Qualifications- Credential:
Valid Georgia Credential or license authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned. - Education:
Bachelor's degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements. - Experience:
Student teaching, internship, or full‑time teaching experience.
- 190‑day contract. State salary schedule, plus local supplement.
