The Associate Dean of Undergraduate

Education:

Academic Affairs and Faculty Partnerships in the Office for Undergraduate Education (OUE) is a key contributor to the overall academic success and experience of undergraduates and faculty in Emory University’s College of Arts and Sciences (Emory College). The Associate Dean is responsible for providing strategic leadership for undergraduate academic affairs, including the effective delivery of the undergraduate curriculum in Emory College.

They will focus their efforts on the social sciences and STEM disciplines, providing critical administrative and curricular support for faculty and departments in those fields. They will work to develop and implement effective academic policies and assessment processes, as well as provide expert counsel to faculty and departments on matters of enrollment, assessing and advancing the curriculum, and developing new majors, minors, and other academic programs.

The Associate Dean will also provide key support to departments and academic advising around specific and often complex curricular, faculty, and individual student issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As an Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, plays a leadership role in managing academic affairs offices and programs in Emory College of Arts and Sciences, in the Office for Undergraduate Education.
  • Manages multiple academic programs and the teams of staff working on those academic programs. Have responsibility for strategic planning and developing processes to achieve those goals.
  • Works with the Dean, Senior Associate Dean, and other school leaders to provide direction and organization of academic affairs within a school.
  • Has responsibility for academic policy development and implementation, including the work of managing faculty standing committees and implementing policies for students and/or faculty/departments.
  • Represents their school and programs internally to faculty, administration, and other university offices, and serves on University committees, as necessary.
  • Externally, has responsibility for communicating and working with audiences including peers, alumni, and parents.
