Includes $4,000 Signing Bonus

Job Goal:

To teach assigned students the academic, social, and manipulative skills and abilities as directed by established curriculum and perform other duties relating to student safety, control, welfare, and growth.

Reports To:

Principal and CTAE Director

Duties:

The position of Agriculture Teacher 6-12 will be assigned specific duties based upon site needs, credential, experience and professional expertise in site relevant areas as follows:

  • Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study
  • Prepares teaching materials and reports for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress
  • Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum
  • Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students
  • Directs volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of the individual students
  • Provides a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, District and or school policies
  • Assesses students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students' progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher's expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment
  • Monitors Student Activities (e.g. classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students
  • Attends county and state meetings as required
  • Introduces students to hands‑on experiences and guidance to prepare them to further their education and prepare them for advanced agricultural jobs
  • Visits students' Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects
  • Assists students in keeping SAE records
  • Assists students in exhibiting crops and agricultural mechanics projects at fairs and shows
  • Assists students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, area, district, state and national levels
  • Coordinates, maintains inventories, and keeps record of the agriculture resale accounts for classroom and shop supplies
  • Collaborates with the agriculture CTAE department
  • Keeps up‑to‑date technically and applies new and relevant knowledge to the position
  • Teaches and observes shop and laboratory safety at all times; safety items are available for student use and safety features have been installed and are in working order on all equipment
  • Maintains inventory of all tools, equipment, and supplies and provides a copy to site administrator
  • Recommends purchases of supplies and equipment for the classroom, office and shop facilities
  • Teaches a broad offering of courses such as: cutting, course prepares students for entry‑level positions in the Agriculture industry, students will study farm equipment operation, general farm maintenance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, students and parents
  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills and ability to multi‑task and reprioritize tasks; meet schedules and deadlines
  • Read, learn, interpret, apply and explain specific rules, regulations, laws, policies and procedures
  • Operate computer equipment to input and manipulate data and to generate records and reports; utilize computer software to organize, sort and report data, maintain accurate records
  • Work with the public, District administration, principals, teachers and all classified personnel; establish and maintain cooperative and effective relations with those contacted in the course of work
  • Maintain confidentiality in the performance of all areas of responsibility
