Salary: Commensurate with experience
Start Date: 05/01/2025
Responsibilities- Independently lead, teach, and manage K‑12 grade students through multidisciplinary outdoor classes focusing on ecology, team building, life history, and outdoor skills (70 % of time).
- Support overall center operations, including maintenance and upkeep of facilities; operating UGA vehicles; providing dining hall and canteen support; and undertaking projects as needed (15 % of time).
- Provide animal care, husbandry, and maintenance for residential education reptiles, amphibians, aquatic tanks, raptors, chickens, small mammals, and more (10 % of time).
- Lead staff responsibilities to support ongoing reservations and guests (5 % of time).
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Education, Environmental Education, Forestry, Natural Resources, Outdoor Education, Science, or a related field.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
- Strong teaching qualities: commitment, genuine interest in youth development, passion for education, enthusiasm for lifelong learning, and connection with students in science and the natural world.
- Strong work qualities: dynamic personality, excellent communication, positive attitude, creativity, leadership, integrity, relationship‑building, and desire to grow.
- Ability to teach a wide variety of K‑12 subjects.
- Experience managing groups of adults and students.
- Broad knowledge of outdoor education and willingness to learn new content.
- Strong communication with youth and adults.
- Customer service and hospitality/food industry experience.
- Teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Experience caring for live teaching animals.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Work in outdoor environments with exposure to varied weather; lift 20–40 pounds; walk up to 3 miles daily; driving required.
