Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within school environments
- Knowledge of educational interpreting best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with students, teachers, and other professionals
- Appropriate certification as required by state or local guidelines
- Interpret classroom lessons, meetings, and extracurricular activities to ensure equal access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Support communication between students, educators, families, and other school staff
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards specific to educational interpreting
- Adjust interpreting techniques as needed for age, content, and communication preferences
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
