Director of School Improvement and Assessment
Position Title
Director of School Improvement and Assessment
Reports To
Superintendent
Position Summary
The Director of School Improvement and Assessment provides leadership for district wide school improvement
initiatives, assessment programs, accountability measures, and data analysis processes. This position supports
schools in improving student achievement through strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, continuous
improvement practices, and the implementation of effective instructional strategies aligned to district and state
expectations. The Director works collaboratively with district leaders, school administrators, teachers, and
stakeholders to ensure high-quality teaching and learning practices that support the success of all students.
Duties and Responsibilities
School Improvement Leadership
? Support schools in continuous improvement processes, including needs assessments, root cause analysis,
goal setting, and action planning.
? Facilitate district and school leadership meetings focused on student achievement and organizational
effectiveness.
? Lead and facilitate Cognia accreditation processes, improvement planning, and stakeholder engagement
activities.
? Monitor implementation of instructional frameworks, intervention systems, and improvement initiatives
across schools.
GaMTSS Leadership
? Provide leadership and oversight for the district's Georgia Multi-Tiered System of Supports (GaMTSS)
framework implementation.
? Support schools in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III
instructional and behavioral supports.
? Coordinate district wide GaMTSS processes to ensure alignment with district strategic goals and
guidance.
? Facilitate and support school-based MTSS teams and problem-solving processes.
? Assist schools in analyzing academic, behavioral, attendance, and intervention data to guide decision
- making.
? Monitor fidelity of MTSS implementation across schools and grade levels.
? Provide professional learning and coaching related to MTSS frameworks, interventions, progress
monitoring, and data analysis
Assessment and Accountability
? Oversee district assessment programs, including state and local assessments.
? Coordinate administration procedures for state assessments and ensure compliance with state testing
regulations and security requirements.
? Analyze assessment data to identify trends, strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement.
? Develop and disseminate reports related to student achievement, accountability measures, and
assessment outcomes.
? Support schools in utilizing assessment data to guide instructional decisions, interventions, and
enrichment opportunities.
Data Analysis and Instructional Support
? Lead district wide data analysis processes to support continuous improvement and informed decision
- making.
? Collaborate with instructional leaders to identify evidence-based instructional strategies and
interventions.
? Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) through data protocols and continuous
improvement practices.
? Provide guidance in the use of student performance data to improve teaching and learning.
? Assist with monitoring implementation of MTSS, PBIS, and intervention frameworks.
? Support schools in developing systems for progress monitoring and instructional effectiveness.
Qualifications
? Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment, or related
field.
? Experience as a district leader and/or school level administrator.
? Valid Georgia leadership certification.
? Successful experience in educational leadership, instructional support, assessment coordination, or
school improvement.
? Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, accountability systems, and continuous
improvement practices.
? Experience analyzing and interpreting student achievement data.
? Knowledge of Georgia assessment and accountability systems preferred.
? Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Terms of Employment
? Twelve-month position
? Salary and work calendar established by the local board of education
