Job DescriptionThis position ensures the implementation of the State and Local adopted curriculum in support of the system’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teaches at an appropriate instructional level.
- Provides teacher-focused and student-focused content development.
- Provides initial focus, content emphasis and linking, and lesson summaries.
- Assesses and encourages student progress.
- Monitors student progress.
- Responds to adequate and inadequate student performances.
- Supports students.
- Handles non-instructional tasks efficiently and uses instructional time appropriately.
- Maintains effective physical setting for instruction.
- Maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
- Follows professional practices consistent with school system and state policies.
- Interacts professionally with staff, students, and parents.
- Facilitates home-school communication through conferences, telephoning, and written communications.
- Maintains confidentiality of students and student records.
- Works cooperatively with administrators, support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
- Complies with school, system, and state regulations and Board policies.
- Conducts assigned classes at scheduled times.
- Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
- Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teachers.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files reports promptly.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings according to policy.
- Complies with conditions stated in the contract.
- Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.
- Models correct use of language, oral and written.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of content.
- Maintains lesson plans as required by policy.
- Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students.
- Acts professionally and assumes responsibility for the total school program, safety, and order.
- Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Supervises students in out-of-class settings.
- Maintains professional relationships.
- Performs any other duties requested by the Principal, Superintendent, or Board.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent. Advanced degree a plus.
- Certificate or License: Valid Georgia professional teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.

Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple correspondence; to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; compute rate, ratio, percent; draw and interpret bar graphs. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to detailed written or oral instructions; handle problems with concrete variables.
- Technical Ability: Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
