Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) is a high-achieving startup public charter school in Greene County, Georgia whose mission is to increase student achievement by building a culture of high expectations for all students. The Academy incorporates common sense and proven principles, such as a research-based curriculum, high expectations for students both academically and behaviorally, an emphasis on outstanding school leadership and faculty, and parental involvement.

LOA is seeking a highly skilled and student-centered High School Dean of Students who understands the importance of personal responsibility, honesty, grit, determination, and positive relationships. The successful candidate will support students in grades 9-12 through proactive behavior management, attendance support, student engagement, and collaboration with families and staff. Applicants should, at a minimum:

• Apply behavior support practices by understanding the Science of Behavior Change and using data to inform interventions, attendance supports, and discipline decisions.
• Build positive, productive relationships with students that improve behavior, engagement, and overall student success while maintaining high expectations and accountability.
• Foster student growth by demonstrating care and support while helping students develop into responsible citizens, successful scholars, and engaged members of the school community.

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required;
Master's Degree preferred. 3-5 years of experience working with secondary students preferred. Experience in student discipline, counseling, behavior support, coaching, or school leadership preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Promote a positive high school culture by reinforcing expectations, supporting student behavior, and fostering student engagement.
• Address behavioral, attendance, and student support concerns in collaboration with students, families, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
• Administer student discipline, monitor attendance interventions, and maintain a visible presence throughout the school day and at school events.
• Support student activities, leadership opportunities, recognitions, graduation, and other school traditions.
• Support teachers in maintaining high expectations for student behavior and engagement.
• Serve as a resource for classroom management and student support strategies.
• Conduct classroom observations and learning walks focused on engagement, classroom culture, and school wide expectations.
• Provide coaching and feedback to strengthen positive learning environments.
• Maintain accurate discipline, attendance, and intervention records.
• Analyze behavior, attendance, and engagement data to identify trends and inform interventions.
• Collaborate with school leadership to support continuous improvement efforts related to school culture, student success, and instructional effectiveness.
• Participate in school safety, crisis response, and student support processes as assigned.

Reports To High School Principal Salary/Terms 190-day contract; salary based on certification and experience.
