Job DescriptionThe Associate Director, Major Giving, reports to the Director, Regional Major Giving (Northeast and Southeast). The role is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals primarily in the New York City, Fairfield County, and North Jersey areas who are capable of making gifts of $250,000 to $4.9 million. The Associate Director will build and manage a portfolio of approximately 110 prospects, conduct 110+ substantive visits, and raise at least $1.35 million annually.
The incumbent will devise creative strategies for guiding the relationship and for the ultimate solicitation of prospects, collaborate closely with colleagues internal to University Advancement and with external stakeholders/volunteers, write effective solicitation letters and proposals, and demonstrate strategic relationship management to maximize fundraising productivity. The Associate Director provides staff support for volunteer committees and develops productive working relationships with key volunteers.
Productivity is measured through individual performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- 1–3 years of directly related experience successfully closing gifts of $50,000 or more for the first level Associate Director, or 3–5 years of directly related fundraising experience successfully closing gifts of $100,000 or more for the second level.
- Experience preferably performed in a complex higher‑education environment.
- Travel and some evening and weekend work is required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition.
- Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications (e‑mail, MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Team player, highly motivated, dedicated to advancing higher education, and appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and Boston College values.
Salary ranges:
- Associate Director (1–3 years): $99,900 – $124,850.
- Associate Director (3–5 years): $110,300 – $137,900.
