Area 4 Elementary School – Paraprofessional, Title I Kindergarten (McNair DLA)
McNair DLA is seeking an Title I Kindergarten Paraprofessional who is knowledgeable and motivated to help students learn. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations to all students. Candidates must work collaboratively with team members and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This is a one (1) year position funded through Title I and will end on or before June 30, 2027. The applicant must apply for the position and be recommended for a new position to continue employment with the DeKalb County School District in the school year.
Responsibilities- Assist students with physical and personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, lifting, mobility, and nonmedical personal care activities as outlined in the student's IEP and in accordance with district policy.
- Provide daily health-related care needs, such as hygiene and other non-medical assistance, ensuring all activities align with IEP requirements.
- Assist with health care procedures, including hygiene and medications, as needed for daily care.
- Provide small groups and/or individualized instruction to students in accordance with lesson plans developed by the teacher.
- Monitor students before and after school and during other non-instructional transitional periods.
- Assist teachers with daily classroom management activities to ensure an effective learning environment.
- Assist teachers with the assessment of student performance (standardized and non-standardized testing) and other record-keeping tasks.
- Assist teachers with the development and organization of instructional materials for use with students and ensure availability of these materials prior to scheduled instruction.
- Provide direct instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified special education teacher.
- Reinforce academic content in whole group, small group, and one-on-one settings.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in each student's IEP.
- Assist with progress monitoring and data collection under the supervision of a certified special education teacher.
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity.
- Maintain a safe and structured learning environment.
- Support students' self-regulation, social skills, and behavioral strategies.
- Participate in professional learning and required training.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA and district policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High‑school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment, required.
- OR an associate degree or higher from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited college or university is required.
- OR a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of college courses completed with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited college or university.
- A valid Professional Standards Commission‑approved paraprofessional certificate is required.
- Experience with students with special educational, behavioral, and social‑emotional needs.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a certified teacher or licensed professional.
