Position:
Elementary School Paraprofessional Dames Ferry Elementary School Effective Date: School Year to begin July 29, 2026
- Hold or be eligible for Georgia Paraprofessional Certification.
- Experience working with students, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefit for students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development.
- Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise children.
- General knowledge of academic subjects relevant to position assignment.
- Computer proficiency and ability to work effectively in a learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various learning environments.
- Knowledge of school safety and security procedures.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Aids teachers with instruction, classroom organization, management, and instructional strategies.
- Attends classroom sessions and redirects students who are off task and support students who need remediation or intervention.
- Works with small groups or individual students to practice skills, read, and ensure each student benefits from the assignment or task.
- Communicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues and conversation with parents.
- Responds to emails and phone calls from school leaders and teachers in a timely manner.
- Assists during the standardized testing to support state and local processes and policies.
- Assists with daily lesson plan materials and make copies of materials for students.
- Support teachers with grading assignments and providing student feedback.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of students, addressing any safety concerns and promoting a healthy, supportive environment.
- Engages in professional learning opportunities.
- Requires prompt and regular attendance during regular business hours.
- Requires flexibility and a willingness to adapt to various tasks that may arise, ensuring the smooth operation of the organization.
