WELDING AND JOINING TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR – Hall County Campus & Lanier College & Career Academy (Oakwood, GA)

Job Type: Full‑time, salaried, FLSA‑exempt

Salary: $65,000 annually (mid $60s range depending on experience)

Responsibilities
  • Deliver welding courses for Lanier College’s Welding & Joining Diploma program at Hall campus and Lanier College & Career Academy.
  • Develop program and course outlines, goals and objectives.
  • Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction of credited welding and joining technology courses.
  • Evaluate students’ progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Request and maintain supplies and equipment and prepare required budget requests.
  • Maintain program certification requirements and prepare required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Meet with students, staff and other educators to discuss instructional programs and issues impacting student progress.
  • Assist with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
  • Co‑coordinate adjunct instructors with the Dean.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, syllabus development and teaching.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical diploma in Welding and Joining Technology.
  • Credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the assigned courses.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and nights, and to teach at multiple campuses as needed.
Technical Competencies
  • Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory.
  • Knowledge of postsecondary technical education mission.
  • Knowledge of academic course standards, and LTC’s academic programs.
  • Cooperative communication with students, faculty and staff.
  • Preparation and delivery of classroom content.
  • Administrative responsibilities related to teaching, data collection and reporting for licensing and accreditation agencies.
  • Competence in operating computers and related software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Welding and Joining Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of experience in the welding industry.
  • Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certification.
  • Teaching experience in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Experience with various welding technologies: GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, Oxy‑fuel, Plasma, GTAW.
  • Experience with blueprint reading and welding symbol identification.
  • Knowledge of robotic training cell with system 5 Fanuc robot.
  • Knowledge of CNC plasma table operation.
