High School Teacher - English/Language Arts

Clayton County Public Schools – Morrow High – Ellenwood, Georgia

Instructs High School students in English/Language Arts. May be designated according to subject matter/content specialty. Utilizes current strategies and theories to plan and implement lessons. This position reports to the Principal.

• Instruct students using various teaching methods such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration, and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content field.
• Assign lessons and correct homework; administer tests to evaluate students’ progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
• Maintain discipline in classroom; supervise behavior outside the classroom (halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, restroom duty).
• Prepare course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Conduct parent/teacher conferences to review student’s progress, performance, and behavioral issues.
• Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• Perform other duties as assigned and required to perform the above services.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
• Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T-4 to T-7 and content area specialization as required by the GaPSC.
• Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. Light duty: sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.
