Part-Time Band Teacher Position
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to provide appropriate instruction in a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning; provide faculty leadership and support to administration for the school curriculum and instructional process; and coordinate the band programs for the system.
Essential Professional Responsibilities:
- Assists with marching band, concert ensembles, and jazz program.
- Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
- Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of the students.
- Collaborates with the choral teacher to provide students with integrated experiences.
- Conducts ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Assists in band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and/or Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Evaluation and Solo & Ensemble events.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and the Charlton County Board of Education policy.
- Works collaboratively with band director(s) to recruit and retain students at the high school.
- Oversees the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment.
- Accompanies and supervises students on out-of-town trips.
- Ensures all necessary and reasonable precautions are taken to protect students, equipment, and materials.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintains emotional control under stress.
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality.
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities.
- Maintains professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
- Avoids behaviors that detract from staff morale.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Hold a valid Georgia certificate in Music (P-12).
Experience:
- Successful prior band experience preferred.

- Current and most recent supervisor's name and contact information.
- Two letters of recommendation OR two Applicant Recommendation Forms.
- Complete history of teaching experience.
- The hiring administrator cannot be a reference for you.
