Position Summary

The Student Pastor is responsible for the development and promotion of FBCL’s student ministries, with a
primary emphasis on students in grades 6-12.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversee the student ministry and direct the implementation of its mission and vision.
  • Build relationships with current and prospective students and their families to nurture their walk with Christ.
  • Prioritize a ministry of relational presence — attending community and school events, following up with
first-time visitors and absentee students, and staying visibly available within the church, school, and
    community.
  • Lead all ministry programs, including Sunday School, small groups, Bible studies, discipleship training,
Wednesday nights, retreats, summer camps, and VBS.
  • Model spiritual discipline through personal spiritual growth, faithful attendance, and scriptural tithing.
  • Recruit, train, and support an adult leadership team and volunteers; evaluate ministry health; calendar
major events; and set annual goals.
  • Foster a missional mentality among students through local and out-of-area mission opportunities and
implement programs to train and empower students as leaders.
  • Communicate student ministry news and priorities to parents, students, and leaders across electronic,
    social, and print media.
  • Partner with other local youth pastors for community-wide events and mission work.
  • Guide the transition of students entering and graduating from the student ministry.
  • Develop an annual student ministry budget, including projected revenue and expenses.
  • Carry out other general ministerial duties assigned by the Senior Pastor, such as preaching and hospital
    visitation.
Qualifications
  • College degree or 4 years of student ministry leadership experience; seminary degree preferred.
  • Proven ministry leadership with students and families; experience leading a team of paid staff and
    volunteers to accomplish a vision.
  • Strong communication and relational skills; hands-on leadership; flexibility; and the ability to resolve conflict
in a way that builds trust and confidence.
Requirements
  • FBCL membership and ordination required; full agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening (at FBCL’s expense).
