Student Pastor
First Baptist Church of Leesburg | Leesburg, GA
Full-Time | Reports to the Senior Pastor
Ministry OverviewFirst Baptist Church of Leesburg (FBCL) is committed to equipping the saints to reach the lost and building
disciples for Jesus Christ. Weekly attendance averages 200 with a current student ministry of 25-30 students in
grades 6-12. FBCL is centrally located in Lee County and within 2 miles of all Lee County Schools, making
relational, on-campus ministry a real and active part of our mission field.
The Student Pastor is responsible for the development and promotion of FBCL’s student ministries, with a
primary emphasis on students in grades 6-12.
- Oversee the student ministry and direct the implementation of its mission and vision.
- Build relationships with current and prospective students and their families to nurture their walk with Christ.
- Prioritize a ministry of relational presence — attending community and school events, following up with
first-time visitors and absentee students, and staying visibly available within the church, school, and
community. - Lead all ministry programs, including Sunday School, small groups, Bible studies, discipleship training,
Wednesday nights, retreats, summer camps, and VBS. - Model spiritual discipline through personal spiritual growth, faithful attendance, and scriptural tithing.
- Recruit, train, and support an adult leadership team and volunteers; evaluate ministry health; calendar
major events; and set annual goals. - Foster a missional mentality among students through local and out-of-area mission opportunities and
implement programs to train and empower students as leaders. - Communicate student ministry news and priorities to parents, students, and leaders across electronic,
social, and print media. - Partner with other local youth pastors for community-wide events and mission work.
- Guide the transition of students entering and graduating from the student ministry.
- Develop an annual student ministry budget, including projected revenue and expenses.
- Carry out other general ministerial duties assigned by the Senior Pastor, such as preaching and hospital
visitation.
- College degree or 4 years of student ministry leadership experience; seminary degree preferred.
- Proven ministry leadership with students and families; experience leading a team of paid staff and
volunteers to accomplish a vision. - Strong communication and relational skills; hands-on leadership; flexibility; and the ability to resolve conflict
in a way that builds trust and confidence.
- FBCL membership and ordination required; full agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
- Must pass a background check and drug screening (at FBCL’s expense).
