Job Description:
Transmission Switchboard / Control Panel Inspector
Location: Statewide (Georgia)
OverviewWe are expanding transmission operations across the state. Due to increased workload and limited in-house inspection capacity, we are seeking an experienced Transmission Switchboard/Control Panel Inspector to support statewide substation projects.
This role is critical in ensuring wiring, components, and switchboard assemblies are installed, inspected, and documented according to Georgia Power standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Travel statewide to inspect wireman work across transmission substations.
- Conduct detailed inspections of wire control panels, switchboards, and associated components to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Review and interpret wire diagrams, schematics, and transmission control panel documentation.
- Verify wiring integrity, component installation, relay configurations, and compliance with safety and utility standards.
- Document findings, maintain accurate field reports, and communicate status updates to project and field teams.
- Coordinate material needs, relay issues, and ensure guidelines and operating procedures are followed.
- Support ongoing transition to universal gray wiring standards.
- 8–10+ years of heavy wiring experience in transmission, substations, or panel wiring environments.
- Strong understanding of wire diagrams and transmission switchboard/control panel projects
. - Experience with:
- Panel wiring (utility or commercial)
- Tech‑savvy and comfortable working with digital documentation tools.
- Prior inspection experience preferred.
- Utility wireman background highly preferred, though commercial/industrial panel wiring experience may also be acceptable.
- Strong attention to detail and safety‑first mentality.
- Comfortable working independently across multiple statewide sites.
- Effective communicator who can collaborate with construction teams, field managers, and internal stakeholders.
