Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Hatch’s Engineering organization is seeking high performing supervisors with an analytical mindset. These positions will be located at Southern Nuclear’s Plant Hatch in Baxley, GA.
Summary Of Position DutiesThis engineering supervisor position is assigned to the Engineering department and reports to an Engineering Senior Manager. The role is a System Engineering Supervisor or Design Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for leading a group of engineers and designers in activities that support daily plant operation, including refueling outages and developing long‑term plant health strategies. Conduct of these activities will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations for Plant Hatch.
SupervisoryDuties Include
- Ensure proper implementation of corporate, plant, and department policies/procedures.
- Ensure focus and prioritization for Core Engineering activities.
- Ensure training and qualification of personnel in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Provide effective and efficient support of Maintenance and Operations in trouble shooting and problem resolution activities.
- Function as acting department manager when necessary.
- Serve as duty Engineering Supervisor or Manager.
- Serve on an Emergency Response Team rotation and respond within 90 minutes.
- Ensure proper industrial and radiation safe practices are followed by employees and contractors.
- Model safe work behaviors.
- Encourage others to follow safe work practices.
- Hold self and others accountable for safe work behaviors.
- Ensure personnel embrace the use of Human Performance Tools (Fleet and Engineering).
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (required) from an accredited college or university or hold a PE license.
- A minimum of five (5) years of nuclear experience is required, with a preference for ten (10) years of nuclear power experience.
- Prefer nuclear site Engineering experience.
- Desire supervisory experience within an engineering organization.
- Experience in multiple departments (operations, maintenance, etc.) is desired.
- Solid plant operations knowledge of generation and nuclear systems.
- Knowledge of Nuclear Plant Codes and Standards.
- Shift Technical Advisor or Operations (SRO) license/certification experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Advanced degree is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and/or large projects with minimal supervision. This position requires strong ownership skills, proactive traits, and good client relations and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will hold themselves accountable for superior performance, commitment to other employees, and the goals of nuclear safety, and will demonstrate unquestionable trust. Respect for the dignity of every individual and differing viewpoints, forward orientation, and the ability to anticipate challenges and apply a fleet‑level perspective on emerging issues is required.
