Fischer Land Surveying & Engineering of Langdon, ND is seeking a Civil Engineer (PE) to join our company. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering and a Professional Engineer license. The company serves NE ND and NW MN and has completed projects across the state. The firm specializes in open channel drain design (30 assessment drains completed) and offers opportunities to manage projects from conception to construction.

Additional projects include site design and layout for convenience stores, agricultural facilities, and commercial buildings.

• Manage small to mid-size projects, client and contractor agreements and budgets.
• Effectively write and prepare technical engineering reports, plans, and specifications for construction projects.
• Assist in field operations as needed; may include construction inspection, surveying, and other field engineering activities. Oversee construction activities and compliance with construction documents.
• Consult with clients and contractors to plan and develop strategies for civil engineering design and support needs. Provide general oversight with contractors and sub‑contractors.
• Gather field survey data to determine precise locations and measurements of points, elevations, contours, etc. through conventional surveying and GPS methods. Prepare accurate field notes, drawings, and record changes in conditions while in the field.
• Ensure schedules and productivity objectives are achieved.
• May be required to assist with land surveying as needed; training will be provided.
• Maintain survey vehicle or UTV with stakes, flagging, lath, etc., and schedule routine maintenance.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with coursework in hydrology/hydraulics, soil mechanics, construction, and business.
• PE license required; experience in municipal/buildings and highway design preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, able to think independently, and possessing strong listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Clear English communication.
• High level of initiative, able to manage multiple projects and assignments with clear expectations and timeliness.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; drug test if requested.
• Capable of indoor and outdoor work, lifting 50–75 lbs, performing manual field labor such as clearing vegetation, staking rebar/lathe, walking on uneven terrain, and standing or walking for extended periods.
• Proven work history with a strong work ethic.
