Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Process Engineer to join our R&D Team in Buford, GA. You will be a key member of the corporate technical group, providing engineering expertise for the research, development, and improvement of current and future processes and products. In this role you will deliver engineering design, project management, production support, and customer support while solving complex technical challenges.

  • Develop new and existing processes and products
  • Investigate and resolve highly complex conceptual, theoretical and technical problems in a timely manner
  • Implement appropriate solutions
  • Provide expert judgment, analysis and leadership on complex conceptual, theoretical and technical issues
  • Develop innovative ideas for new processes and products and improvements to existing processes and products
  • Advance technology and product development as an expert, a leader and a resource in complex conceptual, theoretical and technical issues
  • Collaborate with and utilise resources and expertise within the company effectively and accomplish the research and development objectives above with speed and within budget
  • Prioritise and focus on the most important and relevant efforts that maximise the results for the company as a leader exercising good judgement
  • Work with an international team of researchers and set up collaborations with academic institutions
  • Forge strong relationships within the R&D, Engineering, Production and other HTU departments as well as other Divisions within Heraeus
Your Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or a related engineering field
  • Minimum seven years total experience, including three or more years in industrial process engineering
  • Strong experience in process design, optimisation, and high‑precision manufacturing
  • Background in mechanical design and equipment development (e.g., thermal systems, furnaces) preferred
  • Experience in fibre optics, preform, or fused quartz/glass processing is a strong plus
  • Experience with data analysis, project execution, and process improvement initiatives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; CAD experience preferred
  • Demonstrates strong ownership, initiative, and ability to deliver results in manufacturing environments
