Location: Atlanta
**** 1099 contract 3-6 months****
* Summary
Osmose is seeking a licensed Cathodic Protection CP1/CP2) technician to performs cathodic protection (CP) testing, inspection, and evaluation of cathodic protection systems installed on electric transmission and distribution assets, including steel transmission towers and related structures. Responsible for conducting field testing in accordance with industry standards, Osmose procedures, and customer specifications. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Personnel engaged in testing cathodic protection systems installed on electric assets must be able to perform cathodic protection testing activities on electric utility assets in accordance with customer requirements, industry standards, and Osmose procedures.
Cathodic Protection Testing Procedures
- Soil pH testing
- Soil resistivity - soil box method
- Structure-to-electrolyte potential measurements (within 2-3 inches of tower leg at a maximum depth of 2 feet)
- Structure resistance - 3 pin method
- Current requirement testing
- Galvanizing thickness testing
- Existing cathodic protection system testing
- Structure-to-soil potential
- Instant on / Instant off testing
- Coupon testing
- Anode current testing
- Identification of galvanic and impressed current systems
- Rectifier output voltage and current measurements
- General system troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 years' experience and holding a current Cathodic Protection Tester (AMPP/NACE CP1) certification required
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to read technical procedures and document test results
- Ability to work outdoors and around energized electrical equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years' experience and holding current Cathodic Protection Technician (AMPP/NACE CP2) certification preferred
- Experience with electric transmission or distribution assets
Physical Demands
Requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions with potential exposure to electrical hazards, chemicals, and moderate noise levels.
