Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead EH&S strategy and compliance across two production facilities in the Hawkinsville, GA area. This role will partner closely with operations leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, environmental compliance, and operational risk management while supporting ongoing plant growth and expansion initiatives.
This position offers a balanced mix of hands-on plant floor engagement and strategic program leadership, with approximately 60% of time spent supporting manufacturing operations directly.
Responsibilities- Lead all site environmental, health, and safety programs across two manufacturing facilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and internal company standards
- Manage environmental permitting activities, including Title V air permitting support and environmental reporting
- Support wastewater treatment compliance activities in partnership with onsite specialists
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and case management efforts
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to drive proactive risk reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, training programs, and emergency response plans
- Conduct audits, risk assessments, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and employee training programs
- Support plant growth initiatives, including new production lines, process changes, and operational expansions
- Build strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, contractors, and plant leadership teams
- Drive waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related technical field
- 7+ years of EH&S leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA compliance and manufacturing safety systems
- Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory reporting, including exposure to Title V air permitting
- Familiarity with wastewater treatment systems and environmental compliance programs
- Proven ability to lead investigations, implement corrective actions, and influence safety culture improvements
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations, capital projects, process changes, or plant expansions preferred
