About

this role

The Environmental Health & Safety Generalist (EHS) is responsible for providing direction, planning and oversight of EHS policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and corporate standards. The functional purpose is to support ALC’s mission by creating business value through sustainable EHS solutions. Be responsible for driving world-class excellence standards in manufacturing processes and provide support to ALC field service businesses.

This is an onsite opportunity in Kennesaw GA with up to 10% travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop/maintain EHS policies/procedures/methods to drive overall EHS performance excellence
  • Drive action plans to meet and exceed aggressive EHS goals
  • Provide technical expertise/safety training/guidance/coaching on EHS matters to the ALC organization
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and coordinate EHS activities and action items
  • Reinforce the importance of working safely in the plant and drive/sustain a comprehensive/and proactive safety culture
  • Assist in the development of EHS processes/procedures that reduce accidents/injuries/losses
  • Proactively identify/promptly address EHS issues that may affect operations
  • Execute action plans to reduce worker injury rates
  • Assist in the collection/tracking/reporting of EHS metrics
  • Conduct site/process EHS inspections and evaluations;
    Industrial Hygiene (IH) exposure monitoring/studies; incident analysis; audits hazardous waste accumulation areas; hazardous waste storage and storm water management
  • Provide reports of findings/risk reduction recommendations/corrective measures
  • Conduct workplace inspections for compliance with safety regulations/corporate safety standards and conduct ergonomic assessments
  • Participate as a member on the emergency response team(s), and in the safety committee meetings as a technical resource
  • Provide training to employees in OSHA programs/hazardous waste/spill response/Lock-out-tag-out/SDS and secondary container labeling
  • Maintain procedures to minimize waste and ensure environmental compliance with EPA regulations.
  • Provide timely information and guidance to the site leadership team/site EHS council, i.e., EHS performance trends/root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses
  • Assist with the implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives i.e., to minimize water use/greenhouse gas generation/hazardous waste generation and increase recycling rate
Basic Qualifications
  • BA/ BS degree
  • 1+ years of EHS experience
  • Travel up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in EHS risk assessment, program evaluation and auditing
  • Experience in manufacturing/warehouse/research &development setting
  • Organization and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • English language skills (written and verbal) and able to convey complex ideas simply
  • Communicate effectively with and work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of standard EH&S reporting methods and metrics
  • Influence and drive EHS initiatives
  • Work in a diverse and multicultural environment
