Senior Industrial Engineer, CIP Engineering

SUMMARY

The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes and driving continuous performance improvement. The engineer may also provide engineering support for new or expanding business implementations, support multifaceted operations, and contribute to overall facility layout and design. The engineer will lead and manage vendors for the physical implementation of solutions and maintain financial and engineering metrics to meet or exceed performance goals.

Guidance and training to interns or co‑ops is also part of the role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Keep informed of best‑in‑class tools and techniques needed for solution design
  • Track all projects and provide communication and guidance to engineering leadership
  • Determine and enlist resources required to support targeted changes in support of continuous improvement projects, including WMS engineering, operations, HR, quality, etc.
  • Analyze workflow—including inbound, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping and value‑added services—to ensure accuracy and execute ability
  • Ensure all distribution system functionality (WMS, LMS) is configured to optimize performance
  • Perform special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions
  • Conduct cost/benefit trade‑off analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system, or technology change
  • Develop logistics engineering strategies with the engineering leadership team
  • Participate in DSV Quality Planning (DQP) sessions with new clients to validate requirements and processes
  • Support local operations with pricing analysis
  • Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope of responsibility
  • Review data and summarize expectations to address gaps in operation
  • Identify areas for improvement based on analysis of data and observations
  • Communicate opportunities for improvement
  • Help determine key metrics and provide recommendations to guide management
  • Assist with developing and presenting training materials and classes for distribution processes
  • Bring cross‑functional teams together to collaborate on projects
  • Support the labor management program, including methods, procedures, and engineered labor standards
  • Ensure alignment among all operations policies, procedures, and ongoing improvement projects
  • Educate team and expand knowledge base for LEAN to support a sustainable continuous improvement culture
  • Facilitate use of LEAN methodology in collaboration with the global team and recommend solutions
  • Deploy statistical tools such as Pareto charts, histograms, and cause‑effect diagrams
  • Leverage value‑stream maps or flow diagrams to identify critical quality points
  • Use failure‑mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to quantify impact
  • Maintain SME status in proven industry methods and tools such as Six Sigma DMAIC, value‑stream mapping, and 5S
  • Work with leadership to drive continual improvement programs, Kaizen events, and workshops
  • Set the standard for innovation within strategic and operational problem solving
  • Apply traditional concepts to a variety of material‑handling environments
  • Ensure that all projects include a sustainability component and drive adherence within the organization
  • Illustrate continual improvement successes in a case study format that quantifies value
  • Assist with developing and rolling out strategies and projects
  • Determine feasibility of projects, factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, company goals, technical requirements, and economic factors
