EHS Process Engineer

Position Summary

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Process Safety Leader – oversees High Hazard (HH) and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs across the Covington and Madison facilities. Responsible for building a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulations, and partnering cross‑functionally to identify, assess, and mitigate process‑related risks.

  identify, assess, and mitigate process hazards, lead Process Hazard Analyses, evaluate new and modified processes, and oversee the site PHA schedule.
• Program Development & Compliance: develop, implement, and continuously improve HH/PSM programs, establish KPIs, and ensure compliance with EHS regulations and industry standards.
• Incident Prevention & Investigation: lead Root Cause Analysis investigations, conduct Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews, and identify opportunities to improve process safety performance.
• Cross‑Functional
  
  Collaboration:
  
  partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, and Operations to develop and evaluate maintenance strategies, implement EHS and PSM procedures, and represent the site to regulatory agencies and insurers.
• Training & Leadership: develop and deliver technical training, mentor personnel, and foster a proactive safety culture through coaching and continuous learning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Process Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3+ years leading EHS processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with the fourteen elements of Process Safety Management and the EPA Risk Management Plan rule.
• Minimal travel to other company sites and professional conferences.

• 3+ years in a PSM or RMP regulated environment.
• Experience with Fire Loss and Prevention activities and insurance carrier involvement.

The role requires frequent work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and handling of flammable liquids, ethylene oxide sterilizers, and potential combustible dust. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times. Minimum 4 days of in‑office presence per week; remote arrangements may apply. Vaccination against COVID‑19 may be required, with testing available in some locations.
