Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Define requirements and component specifications for panels, wiring harnesses and electrical systems
- Ensure component and system compliance with industry standards or acquire through certification/testing.
- Conceive new electrical and electronic system designs for customer convenience and efficient manufacturability
- Conduct product research on electrical and electronic equipment and components
- Research and integrate new equipment design as industry trends allow
- Interface with the propulsion, systems, design and manufacturing groups for system layouts
- Generate engineering drawings for new designs and approve all electrical prints for boat release to vendors and to manufacturing.
- Review and approve load calculations based on ABYC standards for AC and DC electrical systems
- Determine shore power configuration and generator size (120-V,240-V, 50/60 Hertz)
- Determine battery and charging system requirements for DC electrical system
- Determine grounding and galvanic protection requirements for AC and DC electrical systems
- Design and approve main and distribution panel boards for AC electrical systems
- Technical design and layout of audio and visual systems including sizing, layout, cabling and schematics
- Technical design and layout of navigation electronics including panels, support cabling and schematics
- Provide manufacturing with technical support and direction including trouble shooting, testing and system verification.
- Generate Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Notice’s (ECN) as required
- Perform design verification tests on finished product and develop criteria for DVPR testing
- Review and approve owner’s manuals for accurate and complete electrical descriptions and information
- Attend ABYC electrical project technical committees
- Perform final electrical design verification tests
- Insure timely and adequate completion of all applicable phases of project
- Facilitate training seminars for assembly personal informing them of new construction requirements and sound practices commensurate with Master Craft Holdings standards.
- Customer Service Support including travel to field units.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Training in computer aided design and ability to produce 2D drawings, schematics and wire lists
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software (Rhino, Solid Works, ETC.)
- Working knowledge of PC based software (Word, Excel, Auto Cad, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years experience in marine, transportation or product design with knowledge of production
processes for line throughput
- Customer service and dealer technical assistance and technical writing
- Must interface well with other employee’s departments throughout the organization, outside vendors as
well as dealers and retail customers
