Job Title:
Chief Actuary / Chief Actuarial Officer (CAO)
The Chief Actuary serves as the senior-most authority on actuarial matters, responsible for safeguarding the financial soundness of the organization through robust pricing, reserving, and risk management practices. This role partners closely with the Board and executive leadership to drive strategic decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize capital efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the actuarial function across all business lines
- Establish actuarial policies, standards, and governance frameworks
- Serve as the primary actuarial advisor to the Board and executive committee
- Ensure adequacy and integrity of technical reserves
- Sign off actuarial valuations and statutory reports
- Oversee financial reporting under frameworks such as IFRS 17, Solvency II, or US GAAP
- Direct pricing strategy to balance growth, competitiveness, and profitability
- Approve pricing models and assumptions
- Partner with underwriting and product teams on portfolio optimization
- Lead actuarial contributions to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Develop and maintain capital models (economic capital, stress testing)
- Advise on reinsurance strategy and capital allocation
- Act as the Appointed Actuary (where applicable)
- Liaise with regulators, auditors, and rating agencies
- Ensure compliance with local and international actuarial standards
- Champion advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and AI-driven actuarial tools
- Oversee modernization of actuarial systems and data infrastructure
Fellow of a recognized actuarial body such as:
- Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA)
- Society of Actuaries (FSA)
- Actuarial Society of India (FIAI)
15–20+ years of actuarial experience with significant leadership exposure
Deep expertise in pricing, reserving, capital modeling, and regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and Boards
