Job Summary

Aflac is a Fortune 500 leader in voluntary insurance products. The Para‑Actuary I supports monthly and quarterly financial reporting and assists in actuarial analysis, data modeling, and product pricing. The role requires strong analytical skills, communication aptitude, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Gather information from various systems and departments per actuarial request.
  • Research, compile, and categorize data for experience analyses using PC and mainframe platforms.
  • Prepare schedules of statistics, premiums, reserves, and other actuarial data.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory annual statements and other year‑end reporting.
  • Research and monitor legislative changes affecting insurance laws, regulations, and rate filings.
  • Develop analytical models and reports for special studies using SQL, Excel, and Visual Basic.
  • Assist in new product pricing, assumption setting, and data verification.
  • Maintain accurate online records, databases, or manual filing systems for department activity.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and statutory examinations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Competencies & Skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SQL.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Para‑Actuary competencies across technical, project management, communication, business knowledge, results delivery, self‑development, influencing, decision making, and values.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Zero to two years of related work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Less than or equal to 10%

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $65,000, competitive within the industry and based on education, experience, and performance.
