Financial Advisor / Consultant
Position Overview
Provide personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at assigned installations. Support a full range of financial services, including counseling, briefings, workshops, and referrals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct one‑on‑one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations.
- Provide referral resources to participants outside counseling sessions.
- Work with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and installation needs are met.
- Assist service members with spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and lead Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering life‑cycle topics (arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, career events, DoDI 1322.34).
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes; virtual PFC support authorized by OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership, participate in supervision, share trend and issue information, and engage in in‑services, training, and quality improvement committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned. All job duties above represent typical responsibilities; additional duties may be assigned without revision to the description.
- Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree plus 4 years experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years experience may be considered).
- Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen, fluent English. Bilingual English/Spanish required only if contract specifies.
- Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Valid certification:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Base salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Pay adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and job‑related factors. Short‑term incentives may be available. Comprehensive benefits include health, life, voluntary, and other wellness programs.
