Duties
Help
- Writes and disseminates, to local and national print and broadcast media representatives, news releases and feature articles describing programs, exhibitions, acquisitions, lectures, presentation ceremonies and related activities.
- Arranges tours for media representatives, responds to media inquiries, and organizes print and broadcast media interviews with staff members.
- Establishes an interchange of ideas and issues among command personnel, local community leaders, civic groups, etc., concerning problems that might negatively impact the installation's activities.
- Conducts community meetings, news briefings, and internal orientations designed to develop intercommunication between the command and its various publics
- Prepares photography or other images by taking photographs, cropping, sizing, and selecting appropriate images in relation to context, security, and policies.
- Uses basic and advanced program functions to perform such operations as updating and revising databases, and searching for and retrieving data for reports.
- Conducts classroom, laboratory, and field instruction for courses at the elementary and secondary level, basic undergraduate courses, or broad courses in the fundamentals and skills of a technical occupation.
- Presents material in accordance with approved lesson plans and makes adjustments in presentation or other instructional methods to resolve common classroom problems.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential"
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Requires travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- Overtime may be required.
- Requires other than normal duty hours.
- Emergency overtime may be required.
- Travel to hostile environments may be required.
- Requires a valid state driver's license at all times.
- Requires eyesight, or correctable eyesight, to the degree to operate motor vehicles in the state, discern colors, depth perception.
- Requires a physical ability to lift and carry 25 pounds of equipment over varying terrain for uncertain distances.
- Requires on-call duty limiting employee's travel distance from installation and requires 24-hour contact with the command for seven-day periods on a rotating basis.
- May spend as much as 45% of time in TDY status.
- A graduate of the Defense Information School Public Affairs Officer Qualification course is desired.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential.
- Position is deployable - A satisfactory deployable medical examination is required prior to assignment into the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment urinalysis screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
