The Residential Care Provider monitors general resident activity to observe and report behavior/progress of individuals with severe developmental disabilities living in a group home or other community residential setting and provides individualized skills training courses according to residents needs.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist individuals with Developmental Disabilities in basic daily living skills.
- Carry out a person-centered Individual Service Plan (ISP).
- Ensures individuals are dressed neatly and appropriately and are groomed at all times.
- Assists and encourages individuals to care for immediate personal needs such as toileting, washing their hands, and eating.
- Teaches individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes, as appropriate according to their individual plan.
- Transports individuals to work, day programs, doctor appointments, shopping, recreational activities.
- Assist with scheduling medical appointments.
- Assists in the implementation of individual and behavioral plans and provides feedback for plan goals.
- Assists individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preferences and individualized treatment plans.
- Assists and encourages individuals in the establishment of social networks.
- Promotes participation and involvement in community outings.
- Ensures each individual's rights are protected.
- Treats individuals with dignity and respect.
- Maintains the residence in a clean and organized condition.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma/GED and six (6) months of relevant job-related training or experience.
- Experience working with IDD population.
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification (CNA), Direct Support Professional (DSP), Direct Care Professional (DCP) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
- Must have a valid Drivers License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
- Must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
- Requires TB Evaluation at pre-employment and annually.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
- Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
- Must be willing to transport residents in the company van.
- Must demonstrate the ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients in a residential treatment setting.
- Must be able to lift and carry groceries and supplies and move furniture for cleaning.
- Must be able to assist disabled individuals on/off vehicle and secure seatbelts.
- Must be able to use a gait belt and mechanical lift to lift and position individuals, as needed.
Note:
Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
