EKG Technician
Overview
Possesses knowledge and ability to provide continuous ECG monitoring through assessment of EKG strips and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias including measurement of P‑R intervals, QRS widths, and ST segment deviations. Possesses troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem. Responsible for maintaining inventories, supplies, hardware, and telemetry transmitters in working condition and appropriately reporting malfunctions promptly.
ResponsibilitiesProvides continuous ECG monitoring and interprets cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, measures P‑R intervals, QRS widths, and ST segment deviations. Troubleshoots monitoring issues, identifies causes, and implements solutions. Maintains inventory of supplies, hardware, and telemetry transmitters; reports malfunctions promptly.
Qualifications Education- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- No experience required
- 1 year of experience as a monitor technician Preferred
- Successful completion of PHC telemetry monitoring competency assessment Upon Hire Required
- Certification as a Certified Cardiac Monitor Telemetry Technician (CCMTT) through the American Education Certification Association Preferred or
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International Preferred
