Occupational Therapy Assistant - PRN

Job Summary

Provide treatment for patients primarily in the LTACH with coverage in the IRH as needed under the direction of the Occupational Therapist. Perform daily documentation and charging in the EMR. Educate patients, families, and staff. Communicate progress in clinical conferences and with team members. Prepare equipment orders and coordinate with vendors and physicians. Participate in weekend/holiday services rotation and performance improvement initiatives.

Cover 50/50 across hospital units. Manage immediate patient needs and document productivity.

• Follow established treatment plans and deliver treatment per funding source and regulatory guidelines to meet functional goals.
• Accurately document skilled services, patient progression, response, and billing.
• Provide education to patients, families, and staff as appropriate.
• Serve as a CI/mentor for interns: supervise, provide direct responsibility for care, give daily feedback, critique/co‑sign documentation, complete evaluations, and communicate with their school.
• Participate in hospital and discipline‑specific skills checks, demonstrating competency through didactic training, testing, and practical skill demonstration.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education: Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (preferred).

  Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Red Cross; COTA certification.
• Location: COTA position in Wellstar (Georgia).
