MLT - Archbold Brooks Hospital Laboratory Description

• Demonstrate adequate knowledge of the hospital, laboratory and referral facilities computer systems
• Demonstrate proficiency in patient specimen collection and test order functions
• Demonstrate correct venipuncture/capillary/urine/drug screen collection techniques
• Collect all specimens efficiently and timely
• Correctly perform instrument maintenance and/or quality control (testing and documentation as necessary)
• Comply with all applicable laboratory safety policies and procedures
• Will require the ability to function in all areas of the laboratory (i.e. Blood Bank, Chem., Hemo, Coag, Urinalysis, Micro, Immuno)
• Handle non-technical, phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed

• Successful completion of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program
• MLT certification by ASCP, AMT, AAB or other nationally recognized certification agency
• New graduates must pass one of the national certification exams within 18 months of hire
• Competency assessment and continuing education in laboratory sciences required throughout employment
• Maintenance of certification is required during employment with Archbold Medical Center
• Experience as deemed necessary to be accordance with certification by the Georgia Department of Human Resources
