POSITION-FULL-TIME
REPORTS TO A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING: PRINCIPAL AND THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Qualifications- Must have a Master s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
- Valid Georgia Certificate in Speech Language Pathology (P-12) required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language and Hearing Association or ability to obtain one preferred but not required.
- Assess, diagnose, and help treat speech, language, cognitive, communication, voice, swallowing/feeding, fluency, alternative/augmentative communication (AAC) and other related disorders.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments
- Duties include, but are not limited to, working with educators, parents, and students to improve delayed speech or other communication problems through preschool screenings, student assessments, and direct therapy services.
- Work with students from preschool through high school to provide consult services, direct speech therapy services, and/or collaborative services (Locations can include but are not limited to: community-based daycare centers, elementary/middle/high school resources therapy rooms, elementary/middle/high school community-based instruction classrooms, private residence for medically fragile/homebound students).
- Willingness to travel from service location to service location
- Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement
- Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of communication-impaired students.
- Serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment team to include working with other special education teachers, occupational therapist, physical therapist, vision specialist, audiologist, and MTSS/RTI process.
- Provide information and support to parents and families when appropriate
- Keep through, ongoing records and data collection for the individual student receiving therapy or other school provided speech services
- Responsible for documentation for Medicaid billing for all eligible students
- Attend in-service programs as required
- Perform other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the school district and the safety of students.
