Pay Range: $22.90 - $34.35

Major Responsibilities
  • Provides support in the delivery of quality clinical care and assists in achieving AMG Clinical Integration goals by preparing medical records, ensuring flow sheets and charts are available at the time of patient visit, obtaining accurate data documentation and maintaining registries.
  • Prepares for patient visit by performing chart preparation, managing patient flow, rooming, and ensuring rooms meet AMG policies and standards.
  • Performs tests/procedures as ordered, maintains test tracking log, communicates test results per policy, identifies and communicates abnormal or delayed results to provider.
  • Responsible for accurate specimen collection and labeling based on laboratory procedures, and maintains practice site quality control logs for CLIA certification.
  • Administers medications as ordered by provider, documents administration, and coordinates medication refills with pharmacies.
  • Anticipates documentation needs to ensure quality care: chief complaint, vital signs, immunizations/medications, history, procedures, and messages.
  • Distributes patient education and discharge instructions per provider direction; directs patient questions regarding education to provider.
  • Assists patients in obtaining additional services ordered by the physician before leaving the office and coordinates with other providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Documents all patient communication in the medical record.
  • Provides efficient, high‑quality service to patients and families during appointments, visits, and telephone calls, demonstrating respect, empathy and supporting cultural and spiritual beliefs.
  • Participates in activities to evaluate and improve processes that contribute to patient satisfaction and provider engagement.
  • Creates and maintains a patient‑centered environment with same‑day appointments, future appointments, and referrals as needed.
  • Responds promptly to patient, associate, and provider needs, resolving issues collaboratively.
  • Maintains a professional image in compliance with AMG policy and Advocate Behaviors of Excellence.
  • Participates in medical record audits and indicator development, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring timely availability of medical records and diagnostic reports.
  • Obtains medical record release of information in accordance with HIPAA and AMG policies, disposes of PHI, and maintains filing by scanning or re‑filing charts.
  • Complies with infection control, OSHA safety standards and accrediting organization regulations; maintains work area per AMG Operating System standards; participates in safety drills; reports safety events and near misses.
  • Demonstrates order completion and documentation for appropriate charge capture and risk reduction, collaborates with provider and billing department to accurately code and capture charges, maintains inventory par levels, and promotes green initiatives and cost‑effective resource use.
  • Maintains knowledge of current standards of care, participates in continuing education and professional growth; completes annual competency reviews; performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least one year of medical assistant or equivalent experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification/Registration required. Non‑certified MAs must obtain certification or registration within one year of hire with AMG approved certifying bodies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience using a keyboard and computers.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
  • Current AHA CPR certification.
  • Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations.
