The Instructor/Operator (I/O) provides training services for the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC), planning and carrying out instruction and validation in accordance with accepted medical practices and military medical doctrine. The I/O instructs a mixed population of Soldiers, both inexperienced and seasoned, in classrooms as well as field training and evaluation environments. Using approved simulation scenarios, the I/O creates realistic scenarios through moulage techniques, environmental control, and theatrical effects to simulate injuries and environments encountered by military medics or first responders.
The I/O assesses students’ critical thinking and psychomotor skills based on performance under high‑fidelity situations.
- Develop, modify, and maintain Training Support Packages (TSPs), lesson plans, and training materials as required.
- Support training event planning, execution, evaluation, and preparation of After Action Reviews (AARs) and related documentation.
- Instruct and support training on new battlefield medical procedures, techniques, and equipment as directed by the Government.
- Utilize medical simulation systems, virtual training platforms, and other advanced learning methodologies.
- Ensure that training courses address all levels of students.
- Capable of instructing, demonstrating skills, and testing Soldiers in all areas of the 68W Sustainment, EMT, and NREMT level courses, and meet the minimum instructor qualifications for courses instructed.
- Comfortably instruct a mixed population of Soldiers in class sizes not to exceed instructor/student ratios as directed by AMEDDC&S.
- Assist the training unit in preparing for training, including equipment use, preparation, and cleanup.
- Possess presentation skills to train and educate students/employees on technical material and applications.
- Remain informed of and maintain proficiency with applicable company products.
- Take inventory and manage consumable items (skins, synthetic blood, etc.) and Preventive Maintenance Checks & Services (PMCS) kits.
- Perform PMCS (daily maintenance) on all equipment.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality regarding student/employee information.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Current in and maintain National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification with a level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher.
- One of the following:
- Former 68W or 18D NCO Advanced Leader Course (ALC) graduate.
- Former Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 8404 or Navy Independent Duty Corpsman E‑6 or above.
- Former Air Force 4
NOX1, or an Aerospace Medical Service (4
NOX1) E-6 or above. - Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Physician.
- Maintain Basic Life Support—Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
- Complete TC 8‑800 (all tables) or the most current TC 3 instructor course offered by AMEDD; I/O must complete TC 8‑800 skills validation annually.
- Comprehension skills to understand course material and apply knowledge in presentations.
- Familiar with computers and possess basic Microsoft Office suite skills.
- Knowledge of staff positions required to establish and operate program site codes and training centers.
- U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Contractor CAC.
- Combat experience preferred, especially in medical specialties of 68W, 18D, NEC 8404, or 4
NOX
1. - Current provider and/or instructor level certification in PALS, ALS, ACLS, PHTLS, and ITLS.
- Prior experience in instructing and education methodology.
- Communication skills to read, write, and follow local training procedures.
- Interpersonal skills for instructing all levels of students and working in a team.
- Ability and desire to actively pursue learning opportunities to acquire latest skills and techniques in the emergency medical field.
The position is operated in classroom settings and field conditions. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Duties include standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and frequently reaching with hands and arms. The employee must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and perform necessary tasks in a physically demanding environment.
Required- NREMT, EMT certification.
