The CT Technologist is responsible for delivering high-quality imaging and ensuring patient safety at a healthcare facility. They independently operate imaging equipment, perform CT procedures following departmental guidelines, and adjust techniques to maintain diagnostic quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
Key duties include obtaining clinical history, explaining procedures using AIDET, ensuring patient comfort and safety, administering contrast agents, and positioning patients correctly. They review images for diagnostic acceptability, complete accurate documentation in RIS/PACS, and respond to emergencies.
Qualifications require a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, and at least one year of radiology experience. Certifications needed are ARRT-R (Radiography), ARRT-CT (Computed Tomography), and BLS from the American Heart Association.
