Location: Nelson

Role

Mammography Technologist supporting a regional imaging team across multiple facilities, delivering high-quality mammography services with a focus on patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography exams following physician orders and protocols, ensuring accurate patient identification.
  • Gather patient history, screen for contraindications, and explain procedures to reduce anxiety.
  • Protect patient privacy, comfort, and dignity while safely positioning patients and assisting with transfers.
  • Review images for quality, ensuring first-time acceptance, and operate equipment safely, optimizing dose and technique.
  • Maintain infection control standards, perform QC tests, and ensure images are correctly labeled and documented in PACS/RIS.
  • Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked, apply shielding, and support training of new staff.
  • Provide clear instructions pre- and post-exam, address patient questions, and escape issues when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, communicate professionally, and stay current with required education and certifications.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital-based Radiologic Technologist and Mammography experience.
  • Certifications:

    ARRT-R (Radiography), ARRT-M (Mammography), and BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathology, positioning, radiation safety, and mammography best practices.
