Benefits Coordinator Hart County Charter System
The Hart County Charter System is seeking to hire a Benefits Coordinator

Reports to:
Finance Director
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily administration of employee benefits including health, dental, vision, life, disability, paid and unpaid leave, and retirement plans (including state retirement and 403b programs) across all district personnel.
- Conduct benefits orientation for all new district hires; manage annual Open Enrollment processes, communication plans and information sessions. Work as a system liaison to third party vendors.
- Ensure district compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including ACA, DOL, FMLA, COBRA, ERISA and HIPAA.
- Manage district leave including processing applications for FMLA, PPL, MBL, Workers’ Compensation, and Unpaid Medical Leave. Oversee time and attendance tracking across the district.
- Support the Payroll Coordinator with reconciliation of monthly billing statements, employee notices related to unpaid leave, and other duties as assigned.
- Research, draft, and recommend district-wide benefits and leave policies to align with evolving regulatory and labor standards and district priorities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for staff inquiries regarding benefit coverage, qualifying life events, and leave policy.
- Proactively maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and state retirement mandates.
- Regularly participate in continuing education, and professional development opportunities to ensure ongoing district compliance. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
:
- Must hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience with HR and/or benefits administration, particularly within a K-12 school system, is preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex federal, state, and local labor laws, benefits regulations, and state employee retirement statutes is required.
- Exceptional interpersonal, active listening, and verbal/written communication skills; proven ability to explain complex concepts in approachable language, and handle sensitive personnel matters professionally and with strict confidentially is required.
- Digital proficiency required. Includes experience navigating web-based enrollment portals, vendor platforms, leave tracking tools, and Microsoft Office.
