IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager is responsible for delivering complex and business-critical IT projects within Global Blue. This role manages the full project lifecycle — planning, execution, delivery, and closure — ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within budget, and at the highest quality standards.

A key focus of this position will be to lead the migration or replacement of legacy back-office systems (invoicing, accounting, transaction processing). While not mandatory, experience in similar transformation initiatives is highly appreciated and considered a strong advantage.

You will guide internal and external project teams, working in close partnership with project owners and stakeholders across Global Blue.

Every action has an impact. You will make a difference here if:

  • You deliver and manage IT projects on time, within budget, and in line with quality expectations.
  • You guide, support, and motivate internal and external project team members across the full project lifecycle.
  • You create clear and comprehensive project documentation, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • You prepare and present consistent project status reporting to stakeholders at all levels.
  • You address and resolve conflicts in a solution-oriented and sustainable way.
  • You successfully lead the migration or replacement of legacy back-office systems, ensuring smooth transitions from current platforms to modern architectures.
  • You collaborate effectively with technical teams, business subject-matter experts, and executive stakeholders, especially within domains such as invoicing, accounting, and transaction processing.

Key competencies to empower your journey. You'll drive towards success if:

  • You have strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • You can organize efficiently and prioritize in complex multi-stakeholder environments.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally with diverse teams, including executives and expert groups.
  • You are a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • You enjoy working in multicultural, cross-functional environments.
  • You express yourself confidently in English (German is a plus, but not mandatory).

Skills

  • 5+ years of experience delivering complex, business-critical IT projects.
  • Strong understanding of heterogeneous IT environments and software development processes.
  • Experience with system migration or replacement projects, ideally in back-office domains (invoicing, accounting, transaction processing).
  • Solid knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
  • Ability to produce clear documentation and structured reporting.

Qualifications and education requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex IT projects in multi-division environments.
  • Experience working with system integrations, enterprise platforms, or financial/back-office systems is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with software delivery processes and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong English communication skills (oral and written).
