Location: Bolton
Unclassified Position
Position is located in the Fulton County State Court.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of required apprentice and/or internship training in court reporting.
- Sufficient coursework to obtain certification as a court reporter from a recognized licensing or accrediting agency or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional license as a Certified Court Reporter (CCR) issued by the Board of Court Reporting of the Judicial Council of Georgia.
- Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
- Stenographically record and transcribe verbatim court proceedings in real‑time at speeds of 180‑300+ words per minute.
- Translate stenographic takedown to English using computer‑aided transcription software and digital peripherals for judges, counsel, and hearing‑impaired participants.
- Maintain evidence and prepare official records of reported proceedings.
- Test court recording equipment regularly and ensure systems work properly prior to proceedings.
- Transcribe, proofread, prepare, file, and distribute transcriptions for civil and criminal matters.
- Correspond with attorneys, court officers, and the public regarding transcript requests and exhibits.
- Train court reporter interns and monitor their work.
- Order and maintain court‑reporting supplies; manage exhibits during hearings and trials, including inventory, cataloging, filing, and storage.
- Invoice and collect fees for services rendered in the recording and transcribing of proceedings.
- Hire and supervise independent copies and proofreaders for transcript production, as needed.
- Provide real‑time feed to judges and/or counsel during proceedings.
- Accurate real‑time reporting with speed of 180‑300+ wpm.
- Proficiency with court‑reporting equipment, software, and peripheral hardware.
- Knowledge of legal and medical terminology, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic mathematics.
- Familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations governing court reporting and transcription activities.
- General office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
- Compliance with National Court Reporters Association standards.
- Effective communication with judges, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
