Job Description:
The General Accounting Manager ensures all monthly transactional activity is properly entered in the general ledger, assists with the preparation of monthly financial, operational, and production reporting, and assists in the annual budgeting process. The individual is required to research and provide necessary information on budget variance and other ad hoc reporting requirements. The General Accounting Manager supports the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Information Officer and the Managing Partner and provides oversight of specific accounting staff.
The General Accounting Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting cycle, Accounting Department and staff, and day-to-day operations.
- Provide oversight for and manage all inputs and flow of financial information through Aderant Expert, including the General Ledger, A/R, A/P, Payroll, and timekeeper production reporting metrics.
- Create and manage all internal control processes to maintain and ensure efficiency, process-integrity and segregation of duties across all levels of the Accounting Department.
- Provide oversight to ensure compliance with all IRS tax code requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); implement changes where required.
- Provide oversight for the firm's transaction processing system through proper recording of transaction in the General Ledger.
- Cultivate an environment that promotes unity and a strong, cohesive team.
- Cash flow management including recommendation of the use of the firm's line of credit.
- Coordinate with the COO to manage the annual budgeting process and tracking.
- Manage banking relationship
- Coordinate with the firm's CPAs for annual tax return preparations and quarterly estimated Georgia tax payments.
- Coordinate with the firm's CPAs for annual property tax return preparation.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or related field) and five to seven years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience including a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience.
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Must have legal billing and accounting experience. Experience in Aderant Expert is preferred.
- Must have a strong understanding of the accounting cycle and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment of constant interruptions and be able prioritize responsibilities.
